Are you an established small business? Just starting out? Either way it’s ok, I will help you to get to where you want to go!
It’s the fantasy of every employee, isn’t it? Dreaming about one day opening a business and being “the boss”! Think of the freedom! The excitement! The thought of pulling into your parking spot at 9:20 and those butterflies aren’t there. Why? Well, who’s going to chastise the boss for being late!
Then, one day, you decide to go for it. You’re going into business for yourself!
The lease is signed, the business is opened and now you’re ready to schedule that standing Tee time on Fridays at 3:00.
Then reality slaps you, doesn’t it? It’s not as easy as you first thought. You’re not just “doing your job” now, every month you have insurance, electricity and rent that has to be paid and hopefully, there’s enough to pay a salary for you.
Yikes! Why didn’t anyone say something before this?
Does this sound like you? If so, just realize that you’re not the only one who has done this and you won’t be the last but unlike most small business owners, you have found me!
I’m here to be your “reality check”! Being your own boss is great experience but can also be terrifying! Especially if you are shooting for a target that you haven’t even defined yet.
What is your target? How much business do you want? Who do you want to attract as a client? Why should people do business with you?
You gotta know these things! Just because you built it, doesn’t mean they will come. People need a reason to do business with you.
Are you ready? Good, let’s get started. This week we’re going to focus on just a few questions and week by week, we’ll do a little more until you have a clear picture of where you are, where you want to go and what you’re going to do to get there!
How long have you been in business?
Do you have a website? (it’s 2017! You better have a website!!)
Why did you start this business?
What cities, areas do you serve?
How’s business today?
It’s going ok, but I want to do better.
Stagnant, no growth.
Declining. If declining, why? (You’ll need to put some thought into this. Look at every area of your business)
Would you like to grow?
How much more?
Get to work and I’ll see you here next week!
